About Us
MJ's Place is owned by a single woman, a single mom of three now grown adults. She believes in this country, its military, and first responders wholeheartedly.
As a plant lover, she believes Western medicine has its place but that Eastern and Native American medicine isn't given its due. Earth provides many plants that can be used for medicines, clothing, building, fragrances, and more. Instead of using harsh chemicals to make synthetic materials like Polyester and Faux/Vegan Leather, Foam and PVC, let's use Bamboo, Hemp, and Sisal for building, ropes, clothes, etc. Let's use flowers, flower/plant oils for perfumes and deodorants. We may not have an alternative yet for everything, but it is a start.
In the meantime, we can begin using these Earth friendly plants and methods and phasing out the bad by way of not making anymore and recycle and upcycle the things we can. Find clean and healthy alternatives to everything, as well as a way to burn everything instead of planting garbage and therefore unable to use that land for anything for centuries, without polluting our air or the ozone layer.
Why settle for harmful chemically made materials when you can have pure cotton or linen, or things made with bamboo? We sell recycled materials like fishing nets, rubber, leftover metals from wartime or other recycled metal gadgets; also, biodegradable items like phone cases, swimwear, and yoga/workout gear. It's amazing how many items you can buy that are environmentally friendly. Just try it out.
Being around business owners most of her life, she learned how a business should run, and wanted to have her own for many years. Since 2022 she has been moving forward with her goal and with everything mentioned above, culminated into this store. She knows how hard it is to lower your carbon footprint and changing the materials you buy is even harder. We need to start somewhere, just like changing the way we eat, it has to start somewhere. A better life is not to be dreamed; it is to be started. Always aim higher.
Most items are made in small batches by small businesses. MJ wanted a general store instead of a single item niche because she believes everyone should be able to get all of their eco-friendly items in one place - convenient and good time management. Having said that, we want to specialize in apothecary items soon, while still offering a vetted selection of other great eco-friendly products.
Our packaging comes from our suppliers, but we are working on getting only eco-friendly packaging in the future.
At this time, we only ship to the mainland US states and Canada. We are working on AK, HI and PR. Thank you for your patience and support.
